I Have Pondered
by Willadene
A rippling stream runs through my yard,
Past flower beds where I work so hard.
Beside the woods and its shelter where,
I've wandered the paths and breathed cool air.
There I've pondered the reason for gain,
as life on this earth for me is a pain.
As years roll by and the days expire,
I long to be free of life's quagmire,
of things and items and life's abundance,
the getting and hoarding and life's one-upance.
Win at all cost or fall to the side
as if life is a competitive ride.
No more surrounding myself with things.
My freedom sings out, let it ring.
Less fussing and fuming do I do,
(and I'm sure it could be so for you.)
Why tarnish life with trinkets and things?
Start today to live life with in your means.
It's joy within your heart you will feel
as your life becomes more of a trill.
