The Skateboard Showcase
Sceaduwe Wealcaner
it was the break of dawn
and the sun was sliding
accross the early morning skies
beyond the hills and to the left
a shadow was seen to move
swiftly and sharply through the hills
it was just a boy, without a home
cloud formations hid the sky
and once again the shadow was gone
the shadow was lost in darkness
then a gap began to form
light widened it and formed a hole
a beam of blue and red and green
came bursting through,
hitting the upon the tundra of rock
i watched this opening from far away
I saw appearing in the golden light
a golden figure shining like a marble star
wondering who this man could be
i noticed he was same as me
a boy without a home, a man all alone
yet he'd come and fought all this way,
crossed the hills and mountains
and still carried on, to reach this place
a place where he was shown for himself
not his shadow, not his name
just to stand alone in that sacred light
he stopped and looked up to the sky
the light shone onto his face
and he smiled for there was still time
he looked down at his worn out hands
his tired and aching legs
feeling like he could not go any further
he looked ahead to what might come
if he carried along his way
he sat down and though not for long
he had to carry on, he strained to stand
and he fell back down
so he tried again and again until he stood.
his pain had risen to a level unknown
but he remembered something
something he'd heard a soon to be saint say
"every time you push me down, i'll will get back up
knock me a step back i'll take two forward
try to push me away and i'll push you twice as hard
i will not leave this world without a fight
i'll push you back with all my might"
with this he rose with new found strength.
he started walking along the hills again
the hole began to close
and as it did a shadow formed once more
i was left in a state of wondrous awe
that one could be so strong
to fight against things so great and small.
this is the reason you only see my shadow
coz i'm searching, looking,
striving in a quest to find something more...
