Little Sister
by Erica
I grew up in time to watch you grow,
I changed you, I bathed you,
I loved you like you were my own.
I shared with you my toys, my secrets, and my room.
I outgrew my clothes and I watched
as you outgrew them too.
When you started to talk,
you said you wanted to be like me,
Now you bring home straight-A report cards,
I never got those things...
I remember how at seven years old,
I prayed for a baby sister in my life,
and how when they said, "It's a girl",
how I jumped up and down, the happy tears I cried.
Here I am, at seventeen, the kind of person
I would not want you to be,
Please don't be like me...
promise me...you will never be like me...
