Daffodil Dreams
by Erica

You wonder what kind of flowers
would suit a girl like me.
I won't take roses,
bring me instead the first daffodil of spring.
Their color so lovely and bright
and the fragrance so fresh.
A sure sign and assurance
that the chills of winter now have left.
They say a red, red rose
has the power of saying, "I love you",
but the reappearing daffodil says,
"I love you so much...let's renew!"
I've never stood at the window
and cried over winter's end,
but walked out in the sunshine
and thanked God
that the daffodil blooms again.
