Non-Fiction Writers' Workshops
We're honored to have Carolyn Dekat's notes published here from her Non-Fiction Writers' Workshops on MSN's Women's Community.
Carolyn lives in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with her husband, her two boys and a pet iguana.
As a homeschooling mom, learning is top priority in Carolyn's family-- not just for the children, but for her as well. Getting online opened up endless learning opportunities. The most rewarding discovery for her was Women Writers Online. Always a writer at heart, WWOL opened a way for her to make new friends, get critiques of her work, and participate in writing workshops -- all without having to hire a sitter!
Her writing accomplishments include several articles for homeschooling journals across the United States, and contest placement with short fiction and children's stories. She also enjoys writing essays. Thanks to the encouragement of her friends at WWOL, she plans to stretch her limits and tackle longer writing projects in upcoming months.
When she's not spending time with her family, offline and on, she volunteers to teach individual Bible study courses, reads, gardens, and surfs for information on her favorite subjects -- history and lighthouses.
