Acronis True Image Home

Backing up your computer is a necessity, and with the newest version of Acronis True Image, it is as easy as one, two, three. I’ve been using this program for years and wouldn’t be without it. The newest version adds much more flexibility to backing up your documents and system.

First of all, the installation is easy. Don’t worry when you click the “install” button. It’s a breeze. Then, when it’s all installed, all you have to do is open the program and in a few minutes you’ll have peace of mind knowing your important files or your whole system is backed up just in case something should go wrong. And, in case it does, then restoring your system or files is just as easy with Acronis True Image.

When you first start a backup, you’ll be asked what you want to back up. You can select “My Computer,” “My Data,” “My Application Settings,” “My Email.” It’s always important to have a recent image of your entire computer in case of a disaster, so you should select “My Computer” at least once a month. Then you’ll be able to select which partitions of your system you wish to back up and where you want that image stores. For security reasons, you should store your backup image off of your main computer, whether you select a removable disc or another location. Then, once you select where your image should be stored, you’re pretty much done. A couple more clicks and you can sit back and feel confident that in a few minutes you’ll have a clean image to restore – just in case.

You have your choice which drive(s) and partitions(s) you want to backup. The program also lets you select whether you want to make a complete image or just append an image you made previously. It’s your choice.

Backing up your email is also something you should do. Email is important to most of us and in case of a computer malfunction, you could lose your address book or important messages.

And, who isn’t used to their own settings? With this program you can back up your personalized application settings.

If you’re changing computers, you can easily clone your disc to put in another computer. And, you can add a new hard drive to your system and configure it to your satisfaction with Acronis True Image Home. In the Disk Utilities section you can clone your hard drive or add a new disk to your system with ease. Also, this program adds security to your system with the options to clean your drive or shred your files.

Creating a bootable rescue disc is also advisable, just in case a major catastrophe occurs and you are unable to boot your system. This will get you up and running in a few minutes.

Besides helping you create and restore images and documents, this handy program adds some other easy to use features. You will be able to validate your image to make sure it is viable in case you need it, and manage scheduled tasks on your system.

This might sound overwhelming to many people who do not consider themselves tech-savvy, but trust me, this little program is easy and reliable. The wizards will guide you through everything, and the help button is just a click away.
