Bad Copy Pro from Jufsoft
This handy little program is an easy way to recover lost or corrupted data from floppy discs, CD-ROM/CD-R/W discs, digital media, and zip disks. It’s easy to install and operate. There is nothing to configure. Just install the program and it’s ready to go. Whether you are trying to open a corrupted file or find a file that doesn’t show up on your disc, this is the program that can help. It’s one of those little programs that offer peace of mind to computer users because sooner or later you’re going to have a corrupted or missing file. And we all know the panic that we experience when that happens.
Once you download and install Bad Copy, you can easily find missing files on your media. With its Wizard anyone can use this program. Insert the floppy disc or CD or whatever media has the file or files in question and start Bad Copy. An easy to understand window pops up and from there you select the source of the file. The program will then list the files on the source. You’ll most likely see the missing file there, which will be a big relief, especially if you thought your file was gone forever. Select the file and Bad Copy will automatically analyze the file and repair it. You can then save the file in a different location where you will be able to get to it and open it when you need it. That’s all there is to it. Bad Copy works with Windows 98/2000/Me/XP and NT 4.0. Unfortunately, no Mac users will be able to take advantage of this utility however there are similar programs available for Mac computers.
Whether you created your CD using Roxio DirectCD, Ahead Nero InCD, or other software, Bad Copy will be able to retrieve your files. Besides floppy discs and CDs, the program supports Compact Flash, Smart Media, Secure Digital Cards, MMC cards, memory sticks, zip discs and more.
There are no simple answers to why files get corrupted. There are many reasons, which to the average user don’t make much sense. But just remember, computers are not perfect, even though we would like them to be. Things go wrong. That’s a fact of computers. But with software like Bad Copy, some things don’t seem as bad. This program is definitely worth having even if you only use it once, especially if that lost or damaged file is important, and face it, most of our files are important in some way or another.
