A Slice of Life

Bare Escentuals for the Holidays

The big word in make-up these days is minerals. It seems that every company is coming out with their own line of mineral cosmetics. But not everything labeled “mineral” is all natural. Bare Escentuals, the company that brings you the Bare Minerals line of cosmetics is 100% pure. Actually, their make-up line consists of no additives, which for people like me with sensitive skin, is wonderful.

The holidays are approaching and it’s time for parties, New Year’s Eve celebrations, and getting dressed up. This is the time many women splurge on new clothes for the season. But why not add new makeup too?

The new holiday line from Bare Minerals is a fun way to treat yourself for the holidays. Instead of splurging on a new piece of jewelry, you can add crystals and gems to your life with your makeup. Well, you might want to add that piece of jewelry too!

With the Topaz-infused limited edition 9-piece collection you’ll get everything you need to look your best for that holiday party. I’ve been testing it and although I don’t wear a lot of makeup generally, this is just the special effect I need to look a little more glamorous this season. And who doesn’t want to look glam at the holidays? There’s also a Ruby collection infused with rubies, but I’m a topaz girl.

The Bare Crystals collection comes in a reusable box with a mirrored lid that you can use for storing jewelry or your precious items long after the makeup is gone. However take it from me, this stuff lasts a long, long time.

Brushes are included with the sets, so don’t worry about having to look for just the right brush to apply your new cosmetics. These specially designed brushes are made for the Bare Escentuals products.

These collections also include their Buxom lip polish, which, to be honest, are my least favorite parts of all the lovely new collections. Big lips are hot in Hollywood and the glossy fashion magazines, and the Buxom lip polish will plump up your lips while giving them a pretty color and shine. However, because they do plump up your lips, they tingle. They are made with a preservative-free Collagan-boosting complex. I love the look but I still cannot get used to the tingling feeling. This is the one part of the makeup line that you can actually feel. Everything else is so light weight and doesn’t feel like you have a thick layer of makeup on your face. The minerals are soft and blend nicely. And the collections also come with the Mineral Veil, which is the final touch to give your face that look of perfection.

Now for my favorite part of the holiday collection. The Beautifully Luminous Lashes comes in two shimmering colors: Diamond and Black Diamond. They’re Ophthalmologist-tested and safe to wear with contacts. They’re made to wear over your mascara to add sparkle to your lashes, but I have enjoyed wearing them alone. They give your lashes and your eyes a twinkle that enhances your entire face.

Bare Escentuals has been around since 1976 and the products are made with crushed materials from the earth, preservative free, and free of talc, oil, fragrance, and other chemicals. And if you’re concerned about putting stuff on your skin, this is very important. The makeup feels great – like you’re not wearing anything at all.

So, this season, treat yourself or someone else to some of these new products. And even if you aren’t going to a holiday party, it’s always nice to add a little extra flair to your life. And trust me, this Topaz-infused collection is a lot less expensive than a Topaz necklace or pair of earrings. A piece of jewelry will make you glow, but so will these collections.
