A Slice of Life
by Francine Brokaw
Fly Me To The Moon by Alyson Noel
Hailey Lane seems like she has the perfect life. As a flight attendant with Atlas Airlines she flies all around the world. Hailey has been living with a pilot for the past several years and she thinks he is about to propose. When her schedule is changed and she arrives home earlier than planned, she gets more than she bargained for. Thinking he is going to pop the question she eagerly rushes into the apartment and finds her boyfriend in bed – with another man. That one incident changes her entire life. Hailey turns right around and leaves. But where is she to go?
She finds refuge staying with a friend and tries to drown her sorrows in alcohol while in Puerto Rico. And with rumors circulating that Atlas is about to downsize, her job is in jeopardy which is the icing on the cake. What else can go wrong? She has no home of her own, no boyfriend, and in a couple months possibly no job. Hailey must face her situation and decide what she wants to do with her life and with whom she wants to do it.
Hailey, an aspiring novelist, pours herself into her work and her writing. She is house-sitting for a friend but soon decides she cannot be a freeloader any longer and sublets a couch in another flight attendant’s apartment. With a meager income, that’s all she can afford in New York. And with the prospect of losing her job, she might not even be able to afford that for very long.
This woman gets more than she bargained for from the very first scene of the novel. From there she begins her search for a cure for her broken heart, and along the way she encounters some surprises. Could the man she meets on a flight to Paris be the next “Mr. Right?” After a rendezvous in France it seems like Hailey is getting her life back on track. However there is one small thing about the man that bothers her. Then he shows another side of himself and she knows he is “Mr. Wrong.”
Hailey is beginning to feel like the world is closing in on her so she takes off to visit her friend in Greece and falls in love with the little island. This laid-back lifestyle is a breath of fresh air for her and a far cry from the hustle and bustle of New York City. As Hailey searches for her place in the world, her encounters will touch your heart and make you laugh. This young woman finds herself in one wacky incident after another as she makes her way around the globe. With strange passengers to deal with, weird suitors, two wonderfully supportive friends and a lust for life, Hailey Lane is a character that will stay with you long after you are finished reading.
Fly Me to The Moon is a fast-moving and funny story. Alyson Noel has a knack for creating funny circumstances in which to put her delightful characters. It’s an amusing story that you won’t want to put down. This page-turner is the perfect book to take on any trip or to the beach.
