A Slice of Life

Lilo and Stitch on DVD

This story about a lonely Hawaiian girl and her mischievous pet alien instantly won the hearts of audiences everywhere. The spirit of family, or Ohana as it is called in Hawaiian, means no one gets left behind or forgotten. Through Lilo's love and caring, Stitch learns about Ohana and finds his family with Lilo and her sister Nani.

In a departure from the newer high tech animations and oil-based backgrounds, Disney has reverted to hand-painted watercolor backgrounds, something that they haven't done in a full-length feature since the 1941 feature Dumbo.

The DVD includes deleted scenes and the four trailers that ingeniously incorporated Stitch into the The Lion King, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast. Another bonus is a new feature that follows Stitch through the years as he tried out for parts in other Disney movies, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs! This little character has spunk. He's been trying to get a part in a Disney film for a long time but until now there wasn't anything to fit him. Also on the DVD is an actual hula lesson, a tour of the different Hawaiian islands narrated by Lilo and Nani, inside information about the making of the film, a game in which the viewer can create a new alien, plus much more.

Lilo and Stitch instantly became a favorite among audiences. The story is funny, sweet, and timeless.

A second CD from relating to the film is also now available. Lilo's Island Favorites includes some great Hawaiian style songs with plenty of island feeling. Elvis, Lilo's idol, sings "Blue Hawaii," and Tia Carerra sings "Aloha 'Oe" as she did in the film. There are only a couple songs that were also on the original CD. Most of this music is new, and they're songs that will make you long for the tropical paradise that is home to Lilo and Stitch. The other songs are: "Rock a Hula Baby", "Lahaina", "My Little Grass Shack", "Coconut", "We Make a Rainbow", "Island in the Sun", "The Old Hawaiian Way", "Pineapple Princess" (Annette Funicello), "Love Me Tender" (Jessica Simpson), and "He Mele No Lilo".

The Lilo and Stitch DVD Read-Along is a another fun way to experience the story. The DVD is playable in DVD players as well as PC DVD Rom drives, Playstation 2 and X-Box units and can be viewed and heard in five different languages. The viewer can follow along with the story as the film comes to life with the original character voices and sound effects. There are also two music videos, sing-alongs and games to play. This is a new way to interact with Lilo and Stitch, and enjoy all the fun of the movie.
