the Skateboard newsgroups

Welcome to the newsgroups on Skateboard.

We're open for business! I hope that we'll all enjoy these web-based boards as much as the dial-up ones on the original Skateboard! Remember, no personal attacks and play nice!

general

Here's where we introduce ourselves and talk about all kinds of stuff. No debate, please -- there's another newsgroup for that!

issues & debate

Something happening in the news or in the world that you want to opine about? Here's the place. Remember, debate the idea -- don't get personal.

writers and poets

A workshop environment, where you can share your works in progress and get and receive friendly critique.

fun talk / people

Here's where we play with stationery and graphics, and whatever.

cooking

Foodies gather to talk food and cooking and share recipes.

info

Announcements and info here ... please no extended conversations!

To Set Up Outlook Express:

Open up Outlook Express.
Click on Tools, Accounts, Add, News.
The first box asks how you want your name to appear, and probably already has it typed in. Click on Next, and it will ask for your email address, which is also probably already typed in. You can change it if you like, or keep as is and click on Next. Now it asks for the name of the news server.
Type in skateboard.annex.com but do NOT click on This server requires me to log in.
Click on Next, then on Finish.
The server is now set up, and will appear under your mail folders. When you click on it, it will ask if you want to download the newsgroups. Click on yes, and it will bring in Skateboard newsgroups. Pick the ones you want, and you'll see a button to the right that says Subscribe. Click on it, and whenever you open your email program, your newsgroups will also check for new messages. You may want to click on View, Current View, and click on Hide Read Messages, so you don't keep seeing old messages.
