About di
When I was a small child, my mother would make up stories to tell or read one from our old edition of one page fairy tales. I loved that book! Many times I sat off in a corner reading those worn out pages again and again. I was the star of show and tell because I would tell my own stories in school. I began to write them down as soon as I learned A from Z!

Mom gave me a finished basement apartment in our home to turn into my "school room". There, I tacked up my writing and drawings, and gave "school lessons" to my younger sister and other kids. By the sixth grade, I was writing poetry, and won a national contest's honorable mention... boy, I thought I was in the big time!
In high school, I was terrible in English, though by then I had started writing novels. Encouraged by one teacher to spend the summer editing with her, I found myself unable to call her-- I was much too shy about showing my novel to anyone. I have regretted never contacting that teacher.
It was in college I found my writing began to have style. I was a young mother by then, juggling jobs and family life with school. My writing began to take a back seat to assignments-- there never seemed to be enough time in the day. When I did write, it was for others or a speech or two for volunteer positions.
Computers entered my life in the 80's and writing became faster and easier to compose in a shorter time. My imagination began to inspire me to write more on stories forever locked in memory. As I grew older, my thoughts turned to writing my observations on life around me.
Last year, I began to camp again, driving to the Canadian Rockies and to Washington's Mt Rainier's Rain Forests. Inspired by the beauty of the areas, my writing flourished. I will be traveling again this Spring through Fall, and will write about whatever inspiries me.
My column, di's Insite, will provide you a glimpse into my thoughts and observations. I hope you will enjoy the articles!
